You’ve got to hand it to the Albert E. Dorner Annual Newport News Invitational Cross Country Meet 2018 volunteers; when the occasion calls for it, they really know how to make a community come together and work as one.
Volunteers worked behind the scenes to help make Albert E. Dorner Cross Country Meet events thrive. They don’t do it for the recognition or to be thanked that day. They enjoy giving back to the sport. “Our volunteers are the absolute best, they have a positive impact on this event and the community,” stated Butch Gordon of Woodside High School. Events don’t happen without volunteers being so kind to give their time and are willing to be there for the student-athlete in the community. Nine year old Natalie, Coach Dorner’s granddaughter volunteered her time as well to pass out medals which put a smile on the athletes’ faces after a hard run. Each volunteer helped to make this event a success.
