Warhill H. S. vs Jamestown H.S Girls Varsity Volleyball Oct. 13, 2015

“It is always a good match when Jamestown and Warhill play. You can have the better team statistically, you can have better athletes individually, but when it comes down to Jamestown and Warhill playing; the team that will come out on top will be the team that plays together and makes less unforced errors”. -Warhill High School Coach Greg Koon. With intensity and confidence in the air, both teams warmed up with enthusiasm and a sense of focus on being the victors of tonight’s game. Both teams entered this contest with one loss. There was great defensive play and soft offense touch by both teams to the very last play. Jamestown Eagles began the second game with a 16 – 5 run. The Warhill coach called a time-out to gather his team together for team strategy. Jamestown came out blazing strong with a 20 to 9 lead in the second game. Warhill did not go down lightly; they scored 12 unanswered points in the second game, but it still was not enough. Jamestown took the second game by scoring 25 to Warhill’s 22. In the third game, Warhill came out strong with some powerful service by Jewel Walters and teammate # 14. There were several powerful slams by Jamestown Ellie Popelka #8 and Maggie Viniatd #3 which kept them in the game, but it was still not enough. Warhill won the three games: Warhill 25 and Jamestown 21. In the fourth game, both teams were scoring point for point. Jamestown brought more defense power, winning the fourth game 27 – 25, and stretching it to a fifth and final game. Towards the end of game 5, both coaches were on the sideline displaying a positive attitude and leadership to their respective teams. Defense determined the outcome of game 5. After tonight’s game, both teams will begin their conference play.
