Jamestown High School Of Williamsburg, Virginia Gets First Football Win And Ends The Eagles 17-Game Losing Streak

With last weeks game behind them and dedication in their heart, Jamestown scored 14 points in the first quarter in the football game against Bruton High School. With two turnovers in the first half, Jamestown’s defense was determined not to give away any easy points. Jamestown’s quarterback threw an interception with 2:52 left in the second quarter. Bruton capitalized on Jamestown’s turnover by scoring a touchdown with a good extra point kick with 1:21 left in the second quarter. Starting the second half: Jamestown 14 Bruton 7. Bruton held the football in their possession for 6:52. Jamestown’s defense held the Panthers in the first drive of the second-half with defense player Demarjia Lewis coming up big in several different plays on that drive. Jamestown’s defense also came up big holding Bruton to only one touchdown. With 1:19 left in the ball game, Jamestown stopped the Bruton Panthers on their own 25 yard line in the final drive. Quarterback Hunter Brittain capitalized the game by kneeling twice and running out the clock. Jamestown won the game 14 to 7, capturing their first victory in school history. Coach Brown had total confidence in his players with the support of Principal Catherine Worley and Athletic Director, Kenneth Edwards. “Bruton, just like I expected them; they are strappers. “They are a tough team and they are going to fight and compete and not going to quit and they kept surging back and our guys held the fort down.” “They were able to stop the surge and walk away with the victory.-Coach Brown. Jamestown came out victoriously in the Pit of Bruton Panther’s football stadium.” This is Jamestown High School football team’s first win since a 17 straight lost. Coach Brown told his team, “I am excited to secure the first victory”.
