Hickory High School golf team won the 5A Regionals Title on Tuesday at the Newport News Golf Club at Deer Run. The team was led by the freshman Luke Gareiss, Patrick Gareiss, Phoenix Smith, and Jacob Mustain. Hickory High School golfer phenom Luke Gareiss had an impressive game and won the 5A East Regionals Individual Championship and Team Championship. It was the kind of performance you would expect from an experienced team. Head Golf Coach John Holmes prepared his team well for this moment. Top 5 outside 1st place team State Qualifiers. Ryan Oden – Kempsville, Hunter Martin – Gloucester, Cameron Baker – Gloucester, Masson McCoy – Salem. Phoenix Smith of Hickory and Delany McCoy of Salem advance to State Girls Open.
