The 2017 5A East Regionals Golf Championship Tournament is being held from October 2 – 3, 2017 at the Newport News Golf Club at Deer Run in Newport News, Va. The tournament was hosted by Michael Tribus and VSGA official PGA Pro – Greg Overton. It is only the first day of the week, but golfers already are shooting some head-turning scores. Luke Gareiss of Hickory H.S. shot a blistering 6-under-par 66 to help place his team in a great position for team scoring. Defending 2016 5A regional champ, Jaron Leasure shot 75 for Kempsville H.S. The most exciting aspect of being a high school golfer is the opportunity to compete in championship tournaments in Hampton Roads. The tournament resume on October 3rd with the first tee-time at 8:00AM.
