Field Hockley Varsity Game Western Branch Bruins vs The Woodside Wolverines. @ Western Branch High School Tuesday, October 06, 2015
In spite of the weather flooding Woodside H.S. field hockey’s home field, Western Branch’s athletic department made a generous offer to allow Woodside to play their home game at their field in Chesapeake. And the game was on. The varsity girls field hockey game was quite a sight to see. The Woodside Wolverines vs. The Western Branch Bruins. Between the sweat dripping down the faces of the athletes and the tight defense by both teams, the intensity of the game was almost inevitable. Defense played a big part in the outcome of this game. When the first goal was made by Bruins number 4, the crowd went wild! A team full of small girls with HUGE athletic skills. Bruins number 19 had many strong hits throughout the second half. This made the Wolverines hustle even more than before. When asked what does it mean to be on such a dedicated team, the response was, “Give it all I can on the field, so I can show how good Woodside is” ,says Rachel Knell the goalie for the Wolverines. “It’s a big deal because I want our school on the map” ,says number 3 Ayanna Healy on Woodside. – Story by Marli Peters.
