With 14 years as head coach for Western Branch under his belt and with 27 VHSL Track & Field State Championship titles– Coach Toukene announced earlier this year that he will be stepping down after the conclusion of the 2018 outdoor season. “I’ve been so very fortunate to have been part of the growth of this program here at Western Branch, with so many wonderful student-athletes,” Toukene said, ” and now I have the opportunity to be part of a new Men & Women’s Track & Field program at Bryant & Stratton College (VA). Coach Toukene has coached many accomplished girls & boys, All-State and All-American. “I am indebted to the staff members that have been part of our program over the years and who have done outstanding jobs,” Toukene said. “The team’s success has really come from the quality of student-athletes we’ve had and the quality of staff members, from coaches to the track support staff. I’ve worked under seven administrations and all of their support has been uplifting and has kept our motivation to succeed at a high level”. Coach Toukene shared he will miss the student- athletes, the Track All-Americans, and the competition.
