Warhill Lady Lions field hockey team improved to 5-2 in the Bay River District.
Defense development is essential to having a good field hockey team. Even though offensive players are often the ones who get their names on the stat sheet, every field hockey team needs a dominating defensive presence in order to succeed in the Bay River District. It was a battle of two opposing forces. Lafayette entered the match with one game win in their first encounter earlier in the season. #23 Ava Harriss and #16 Elizabeth Schmidt had other plans for Tuesday night in their second field hockey thriller. Harriss hit the back of the cage with just 13:42 in 4th quarter for the first goal of the game and Schmidt scored the second goal with 10:05 minutes left in the game landing the Lion a 2-0 shutout over Lafayette HS. With the win, Lion’s improves to 5-2 on the season, while LHS falls to 5-3. Their next test will be at 6:00 pm on Thursday, March 25, 2021 against New Kent @ New Kent High School’s Ed Allen Jr Athletic Complex.
