Twenty-Eighth Annual Kecoughtan Invitational at Midtown Aquatic Center January 14, 2017
Lafayette High School, Jamestown High School and Menchville High School girls and boys both team ranking in the top ten at the Twenty-eighth Annual Kecoughtan Invitational. All athletes were pulsating with energy. Swimmers glided through the water as the air buzzed with the chatter of spectators. A throng of people came out to support the finalists compete at the Midtown Aquatic Center. The whole arena was packed with family members and mentors encouraging the competitors as they practiced.
A notable swimmer was Miles McAllister from Menchville High School. It was obvious how dedicated he was during the 100 yards Backstroke. He performed each stroke meticulously as if he practiced his whole life for that moment.
The one of the best swimmers was the one and only Alex Moore from Menchville High school. Moore sliced through the water with incredible agility and speed. With the skill he demonstrated, he was no match for his competitors; each event he competed in he topped at number one. His swim time was outstanding; he swam a speedy 44.89 seconds in the 100 yard Freestyle breaking his record of last year and even qualifying for States that will be held on February 18th at George Mason University Aquatic Center.
Menchville High School has very talented swimmers. They demonstrate the qualities of hardworking athletes. Menchville Lady Monarchs gearing up for a championship run once again with returning leadership and experience. As long as the Lady Monarchs can stay healthy, they have the talent and depth to go far. We will be looking forward to seeing them compete in more events in the future.
