Hall of Fame Coach Raymond Pollard who has been coaching track and field for four decades and he continues to be focused on teaching the student-athletes the game of track & field. He is a huge influence athletes and coaches in the Hampton Roads Community. Coach Pollard has given back to the sport that has gave so much to him when he was a young man. Coach Pollard is a legend who continues to coach track at Heritage High School after his retirement as a teacher. Raymond Pollard attended Huntington High School and won the VIA 100-yard dash in 9.8 seconds as a junior and was in the top 10 in the nation with a state-winning time of 9.6 as a senior. In the 1964 season, Coach Pollard was named the Outstanding High School Performer at the Penn Relays, running a 46.4 440-yard split and leading his team to the Championship of America 4×400 Relay victory for the second consecutive season. “I love it today as much as I loved it my first year; I love it more; I’m still learning; we’re all still learning. “
