Maury Commodores Get Over The Top And Won Class 5A State Semifinals Football.

Maury fans all proudly screamed loudly, “We are going to State; we are going to State”. The final whistle had just sounded and the Commodores of Maury High were a happy bunch. They had just finished off Varina a favorite out of Richmond area. Varina High 17-14 in the Class 5A State Championship semi-final game on Saturday afternoon at Powhatan Stadium. Coming off a medical concussion, Demetrius “DJ” Johnson helped his team win state semi-final game with a fourth-quarter interception to clinch the game.
