The Lady Grizzlyies’ scored early and often in the Friday evening softball game. The Grizzlies jumped out to an early runs lead in the first inning with the score 4-0 in the first ending. Grizzly’s offense continued strong, scoring 4 more runs in the bottom of the second inning, 14-1 bottom of the fourth inning. Starting pitcher, Morgan Murphy kept her cool late in the fifth final inning with constant screaming from the Westen Branch bench hoping their batters could score another run in the final inning after being down from a 15-2 run deficit. Murphy earned the complete game win with 8 strikeouts and improved the team to 6-2 overall record in the Southeastern District. On Saturday April 15, Grassfield will be hosting the 7th Annual Jasmine Foreman Memorial Scholarship softball tournament to honor her memory in a special way.
