Deep Creek H.S. Freshman Wins State Dive Title While Maury H.S. Sophomore Regains Title.
One day, the Deep Creek H.S. freshman may look back at her first state championship swim & dive meet and reminisce on the contest. Savanna Miller is still young, but the freshman diver from Chesapeake, VA is already a state champion. Savanna captured a state title at 2020 VHSL State Championships Class 5 Diving on Thursday in the Oak Marr RECenter held in Oakton, VA. The next top finalists were also from Hampton Roads. Second place Faith Pearson (Princes Anne), third place Anabel Foster (Princes Anne), fourth place Maya Spektor (Princes Anne).
Maury H.S. sophomore diver, Owen Redfearn is making waves. In his second year as a high school diver, the young star captured first place in the 1 meter springboard in the boys VHSL State Championships Finals to become a state champion. His recorded score of 382.50 secured the top spot. Owen speaks with Coach Johnson about his high school athletic journey. Cox High School Tradd Rector was runner-up in the VHSL championship.
