Coming Off Indoor State Titles, Bethel & Phoebus Boys Join The Peninsula In A 10-Team Track Meet Held At Gloucester High School.
In their typical laid-back fashion, Coach Brown of Phoebus H.S. and Coach Williams of Bethel H.S. didn’t get too excited during the opener of peninsula outdoor track and field held at Gloucester H.S. on Wednesday March 30, 2016. Both had their laid-back style of coaching. This past winter season, both teams put in extremely hard work to capture boys indoor state titles in their divisions.
One of the things we love about track is that people who could be your enemy end up being good friends,” says Tucker of Woodside. “A lot of that is because it’s such a hard sport and you need someone to push you during competition. We respect the fact that we wouldn’t be as good without the other rivals on the peninsula”. At the end, we become college teammates. Sometimes in sports, old rivals can become successful teammates at a higher level. Historically the peninsula track athletes has been turning out some of the most impressive all-around athletes through the ages for Virginia.
