What makes for an excellent coach? Is it the training or the inner qualities of a man or a combination of the two? Over 40 years as an educator and coach, Coach Raymond Pollard has trained many future teachers, coaches and other professionals. In my opinion, he is a master teacher and coach.  Coach Pollard has mentored several coaches on a private basis and he views coaching as a calling, an art and a discipline. He models positive character traits for his family and students. As a runner, Raymond Pollard was one of the outstanding athletes in Hampton Roads. For example, he was named Penn Relays’ Most Outstanding Performers in 1964 while running for Huntington High School. It is no coincidence that I also rely on his wisdom. Over the years, his wisdom about coaching (and life) has inspired thousands of young people.
