Jamestown High School in Williamsburg Virginia hosted the 1st Kyle Elliott Memorial Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, December 2nd. The tournament featured teams from the Hampton Roads area. The tournament offered both a competition and an opportunity to donate to an important cause (mental health). This tournament is open to wrestlers of any district and conference. Wrestlers take on many challenges in competing in this sport and in life. No doubt our competitors are ready to take on the important worldwide fight to overcome mental health disorders.
The high school wrestling season has started back up in Hampton Roads and we are getting ready for the season like no year before. This season will bring us more incredible moments, some improbable upsets, and memories to last a lifetime. Tournament director and Jamestown H.S. head coach Richard Pennycuff stated, “We were fortunate to have great success at the event; my athletes performed well, better than we expected”. Cameron Walker of Gloucester High School was named outstanding wrestler at the tournament, making this weekend his 116th high school career win.
