The undefeated boys tennis team, Western Branch (9-0 Southeastern District) match up with the Indian River on Tuesday. The Bruins’ continued their winning streak against Indian River, sweeping the meet 9-0. The team of Benjamin Holtzclaw, Matthew Hayes, Philip Snyder and Karson Healy, seniors, saw great success that evening, winning every game and both sets against Indian River. The boys on this team are highly competitive and experienced tournament players who know how to win. The depth of the boys’ team is unparalleled to any other team there have been in the past with several players vying for the No. 1 position. As impressive as the streak has been, the players find their inspiration beyond the Southeastern District. They pay respect to opponents in each of their matches, but talk more about capturing a regionals title. As for the rest of the season, the team is nearing an end with only one more match against Princess Anne High School in a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) match game Friday, May 4, 2018. Under head coach, Tom Anderson, the Western Branch boys tennis team improved the school record to 51-3 within the last six years.
