In tennis, you can go several games without seeing something truly outstanding. When Reilly Tran of George Marshall H.S took on Nina Sorkin of Deep Run H.S., they produced three sets of the best points you’ll ever see in the course of a single game at the VHSL Group 5-A champions. The VHSL crowned the 2017 Group 5-A State Champions in the Individual Girl’s Tennis Championships in the singles bracket. Nina Sorkin claimed her forth individual championship by defeating Reilly Tran in the finals 6-1, 1-6, 4-6. These two girls have plenty of matches to play due to possible rematches in the doubles and team competitions as well. Erick Rivas of Stonebridge HS defeated Ted Zhou of Thomas Jefferson S&T HS for the Boys 5A VHSL Tennis Singles State Championship: 6-2, 6-2
