Heritage High School marching band rocked the home fans and electrified the crowd with their stunning sounds and unique marching style.
Over the years the Peninsula District has had more than its fair share of classic match-ups. Some meetings have been going on for so long that their annual games have become reason for even non- alumni to get excited. Of the rivalries, Heritage High vs Woodside High, are still going strong, The teams have played 22 times, every year since 1996. There’s nothing quite like a high school football rivalry in the City of Newport News. Not only are the teams playing for bragging rights, they are upholding the honor of those alum who played before them. Neighborhood pride is on the line every year between the two schools.
Woodside’s Tyler Thompson, a junior quarterback, lit up the stat sheet with a 12 yards pass to D’onte Chesson in the third quarter in a 26-7 win over Heritage High. Thompson also had a 1 yard run late in the fourth quarter.
