Regional track weekend brings state-level competition.
Gloucester High School Track Team believes that most athletes enjoy the pursuit of excellence and seek opportunities to test themselves against their own accomplishments and those of their peers and teammates that is given the opportunities provided by their track coaches. The VHSL Class 5A South Region meet hosted by Gloucester High School featured plenty of rich competition.
Among the athletes to watch on the girls’ side is Micayah Holland, Princess Anne sophomore, who leads all of Class 5A girls sprinters in the 100 meter dash (12.08) 200 meter dash (25.12). Keep an eye out for Jahnelle Saunders, senior at Bethel High School, who placed in first in the girls 100 meter hurdles, first in girls high jump, first in girls long jump, first in the girls shot put, and second in the girls 300 meter hurdles. Honorable mention goes to Indian River High School sprinter, Malachi Hinton, for first place in the 100 meter dash (10.63) and first place in the 200 meter dash (22.04). Gloucester HS girls and boys one mile runners took first place in the 1600 meter run. Tanner Baker with the time of (4:36.31). Mya Baker (5:40.97). Nansemond River HS boys won with score of 105 points and Bethel HS girls won with the score of 91 points. VHSL Class 5A South Region Results
