Kellam is coming off a difficult loss against their Virginia Beach District rivals (Ocean Lakes High) on Monday, January 22. Although losing by a margin of .125, Kellam picked up its pace in its own senior night competition. Things started to improve in the fourth and final rotation as Kellam scored its season best in the floor exercise. The routines drew applause from even the schools’ rivals. The veteran seniors performed solid routines in all of the events and contributed greatly to their team’s total score. The Knights gymnastics team will try to keep the momentum going from a strong home win on senior night with it’s remaining regular season on the road. Dalton Long used a steady performance on the final senior day competition to win All-Around (35.9 total score) with her explosive power and height on floor and uneven bars. Riley of First Colonial High School gymnastics team put together a dominant performance to capture a score of 9.25 floor exercise.
