Jamestown and Smithfield girls field hockey dedicated their game to their loved ones that have fought and battled breast cancer. The teams played and recognized the following; Karen Cross, America Pirrone, Cathy Brown, Carolyn Bewsher, Frannie O’Connor, Aunt Dott, and Mary-Lewis Wallace. The Jamestown Lady Eagles called it, “Play For Cure Night” on Tuesday October 4, 2016.

Fall is definitely in the air and this week teams are showing awareness and support for the fight against breast cancer. Regardless of what happens on Tuesday under the lights, the Jamestown Eagles and head coach, Jennifer Schrum will always be looking ahead by kicking off their Breast Cancer awareness on the field. Coach Schrum’s team didn’t carry out her game strategy exactly as planned on Tuesday night. Jamestown continued to play hard in the second half of the game. Jamestown High School girls varsity field hockey team fell to Smithfield High School, 2-1.  It was an emotional game, so there was no surprise there were heightened emotions when teams play to honor breast cancer survivors.
