Lakeland gave Deep Creek all it could handle Thursday evening in a southeastern district softball game, but a four-run fifth inning proved to be the difference as the Deep Creek improve their season best with an 9-3 win over the Lakeland Cavaliers. The Lakeland jumped to a 2-0 lead after the first inning, but the Deep Creek (10-3) scored in the bottom of the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings to take a 9-3 lead.
