The regular season is in the books. It was a tremendous year for Hampton Roads area teams. Chris Daniel’s four touchdowns passes helped Phoebus defeat Booker T. Washington 42-14 in the Region 3A quarterfinals on Saturday November 11. Smithfield stayed in the playoff hunt with a big win over Lake Taylor 15-8 in Region 4A. Smithfield (9-2) will travel to King’s Fork (10-1) next week in 4A semifinal. On Friday, November 10, 2017 the Crabbers’ defeated Gloucester HS football team at Darling Stadium. Lafayette won against rival Warhill (48-17). The victory moves Lafayette (10-1) into a regional semifinal meeting with Deep Creek (9-2), a 39-13 winner over Heritage. Woodside (8-3) defeated Bayside 29-7 at Todd Stadium. Woodside dominated the entire game. D. Chesson scored three touch downs and had 171 total yards. The Wolverines will travel to Virginia Beach to play Landstown in next week’s Region 6A semifinals. York HS had a big win (40-8) against Park View at their home field Friday night at Bailey Field. Highland Springs continue to elevate on offense and special teams. D’Vonte Waller provided leadership, throwing for 108 yards and rushing for 41 yards and a touchdown run. Highland Springs will play Henrico in the 5A Region semifinals.
