Field Hockey Monitor-Merrimac Conference 2 Tournament Championship
Five teams competed in the Field Hockey Monitor-Merrimac Conference Tournament Championship: Granby HS, Grassfield HS, Oscar Smith HS, Western Branch HS, and Woodside HS. Grassfield and Woodside advanced to the finals held at ODU Powhatan Field on Thursday, October 29th . Grassfield came into the tournament with 16 wins and 1 loss. Woodside came into the tournament with 8 wins, 6 losses, and 1 tie. This was Woodside’s first appearance in the tournament. Both teams came out in the first half with superb defense and went into the second half with the score 0-0. Grassfield came out with even more firepower in the second half, controlling the ball for the majority of the second half and wanted the victory a little bit more. Grassfield defeated Woodside 2- 0. Number 11, Abby Trowbridge and Number 2, Mackenzie Tones scored the two points for the Grassfield Grizzlies. Both teams will compete in the 6A Regional Field Hockey Tournament which begins on Monday, November 2nd.
