Clean sweep: Ocean Lakes High school cross country teams take home Region-A Division titles
Maury High School young girls cross country team made a statement when it outraced the competition to win the VHSL Class 5 Region-A Cross Country Championships held at Bells Mill Park Chesapeake, VA Oct 31, 2018. Maeve Stiles won the individual title with a time of 19 minutes, 10.28 seconds for 5,000 meters. Her teammates Iman Abdous, Eliza Madison, Hannah James was also a top 5 finisher for the Commodores, who totaled 43 points to finish well ahead of the Rgionals 5-A.
Jackson Martingayle, Jackson Cinnamond, Bryce Austin, Alex Sawyer and Dylan Blake all finished in the top 10 to lead the Princess Anne High School boys cross county team to the team title of the Boys’ VHSL Class 5 Region-A Cross Country Championships. Jackson Martingayle led the Cavaliers, finishing first place in the individual champ at the time of 16:11.88.
For one team it was an expectation, Ocean Lakes High Sschool Cross Country teams won the VHSL Class 6 Region-A Cross Country Championships. It was all about team effort. Both Ocean Lakes teams had several runners at the top of the field, with the boys placing four runners in the top 10 and the girls placing three in the top 5. The team goals were very clear. They wanted to win this year. The VHSL State Cross Country Championships will be help on November 9-10, 2018 at Great Meadow (State Course) The Plains, VA.
