Bethel Boys And Maury Girls Captured The 2019 VHSL Class 5A Region Outdoor Track and Field Championships At Gloucester High School.

The Bethel boys, who finished runner-up last year, had 96 points and edged Hickory High by thirteen points. Norview was third with 68. The Maury High School girls finished with 136, 39 more than second-place Bethel High School girls. Bethel’s Edward Richardson won the 200 meter and 400 meters dashes. The Bruins’ 4×400 relay team also captured first place. Maury High girls won the 4×800 relays while Heaven Hall was first in the 400 and Mekhia McCounts won the 300 meter hurdles finals. Bethel’s Jahnelle Saunders was the meet’s top scorer, winning the high jump, long jump and first in 100 hurdles and fifth in the triple jump and eighth in 300 meter hurdles.Complete Results 2019 VHSL Class 5A Region
