Annual 757 All-Star Football Classic 2017

On Saturday, Dec. 16 at 12:30 p.m., Spotlight High was at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia for the 4th Annual 757 All Star Football Classic 2017 for top high school football players in Hampton Roads. The team was composed of seniors from Southside versus the Peninsula. The athletes were nominated by high school football coaches in the Hampton Roads area. This game was a great opportunity for schools to showcase the great athletic talent in Hampton Roads. The Peninsula coached by Danny Dotson, the head football coach of Woodside High school defeated the Southside in the game featuring the area’s top senior football players. The Peninsula’s defense was led by defensive end from Gloucester High School, Cameron Walker with 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 force fumbles and 1 fumble recovery. Offensive lead was Jie Cleveland of Woodside High. Cleveland had 1 touchdown, 2 kick-off returns both over 40 yards, and leading rusher for the Peninsula All-Stars. Cleveland was named offensive player of the game. Scott Signorelli, a first-time football player who played soccer growing up may have been the area’s most accomplished kicker in the All-Star game. Signorelli made a 39 yarder and 40 yarder field goals and 3 extra pointers in today’s game. Final score: 20-7.
